Spaces in togetherness...

“But let there be spaces in your togetherness,
And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.
Love one another, but make not a bond of love.
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls……
Even as the strings of a lute are alone
though they quiver with the same music. ….
And stand together, yet not too near together.
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress
grow not in each other's shadow.”
--The Prophet by Khalil Gibran “ On Marriage”

Well, three years back, today I got married to my friend Andy.

Summing up the achievement of last three years I can say that we have learnt to endure each other, know exactly what will irk the other and have gathered the skill to argue on any conceivable topic.
But on a serious note there are moments when I feel proud of my choice …when I realize he can be relied upon in a really messy situation …when I do a faux pas of something really important and know I can still bare my heart to him …and when I see him working with full dedication and sincerity . Differences are abundant …starting from physical appearance (where we make a perfect 10 couple-he resembling 1 and me 0 ) to food habits, sleep timings, TV channel choices and layout of furniture in rooms .
But despite all this , I love being married. It’s so great to find that one special person you want to annoy and irritate the rest of your life. And after all, veterans will agree with me that being married is a lot like getting into a tub of hot water. After you get used to it, it ain't so hot……..
